30 years ago today I saw The Smiths in New York City.

ROCK CONCERT: THE SMITHS

MORRISSEY, the singer and lyricist of the Smiths, is one of rock’s most articulate tortured souls – and judging by the sellout audience Wednesday at Pier 84, who sang along on most verses and choruses, a much-beloved cult figure.
