I attended a press conference the other day at the St. John Center for Homeless Men. I was there for work as we were asked to attend along with the other agencies in town that serve the homeless. I walked into the room and past several men sitting at a table that were spending the day at the shelter. One of the guys said, “Hey,” and motioned for me to come back over to them. He said something, but the room is cavernous and his voice was drowned out by the other voices in the room bouncing off the walls. I leaned down and said, “What’s that?” He replied, “Do you want to borrow my comb?” and trying not to laugh. I couldn’t help but laugh myself and asked, “Is it that bad?” to which he responded, “Oh yeah, but I guess that’s how people wear it these days.”
I will laugh about this for weeks.
